There are remote areas where power companies have no means to access your home. Solar power is a great way to generate energy for your heating, electric and even cooking needs.

Desalination of water is a great use of solar energy if you are in an area where fresh water is scarce. Solar energy evaporates brine and leaves the salt crystals in the bottom of the basin. Water then condenses back into another basin, where it becomes drinkable.

A big advantage of solar energy was a law passed a couple years ago that allows the selling of excess power back to utility sources, lowering or eliminating your bills. This means you can save several hundred dollars a month just by selling back extra energy you collect!
