Thank you for getting in touch with me about Senator Murkowski’s amendment that would limit the EPA’s ability to regulate greenhouse gas pollution under the Clean Air Act.
As one of the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases, the United States has a clear obligation to be at the forefront of climate change policy. Without action, we risk the health of our citizens, the well-being of our coastal areas, and the productivity of our farms, forests, and fisheries.
The most effective way to address global warming, while also ensuring economic stability, is through comprehensive clean energy legislation. Ohioans deserve a climate change bill that not only reduces carbon emissions, but ensures the competitiveness of domestic manufacturers, keeps utility rates affordable, creates new jobs and industries, and promotes the production of renewable energy. With effective legislation, Ohio’s workforce can be a leader in building, growing, and designing the technologies and fuels that will power the clean energy economy.
Should this legislation come before the Senate for consideration, I will certainly keep your views in mind.
